Overview
Thank you for using Speedometer. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used and how it is protected.
Data we collect
Location data: GPS speed, route, latitude/longitude and altitude are used only during an active session.
Motion sensors: accelerometer and barometer data (G-force in vehicle mode, altitude in other modes) are processed locally on your device.
Session records: summary data from completed activities (such as duration, distance and maximum speed) is stored only on your device.
Profile information: the name and optional profile photo you enter in the app are kept locally on your device.
How we use your data
Collected data is used solely to display real-time speed, distance and route information; to calculate activity statistics and organize them in the History screen; and to personalize the in-app experience (mode, theme and unit preferences).
Location permission
The app requires “While Using” location permission for GPS speed and route tracking. Background location access is used only while a session is active and is terminated when the session ends.
You can change location permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy → Location Services.
Third-party services
Speedometer uses the following third-party services to improve app reliability and communication:
Firebase Remote Config (Google): used to remotely manage certain app configurations without requiring an app update. No personal data is sent to Firebase.
OneSignal: used to send push notifications. OneSignal assigns an anonymous device token to deliver notifications. No personal data such as your name, email or location is shared with OneSignal. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications.
Speedometer does not share, sell or rent your personal data to any third party.
Advertising
The free version of the app may display ads provided by third-party advertising networks. These networks may use device information, such as an advertising identifier, to show and measure ads.
Your advertising identifier is only used for tracking if you allow it in the App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can change this at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
Premium subscribers can use the app without ads.
Apple may provide developers with App Store and crash information according to your Apple privacy settings.
Purchases
Purchases are processed through Apple's App Store infrastructure, and all payment information is managed exclusively by Apple.
Data security and retention
All session records are stored locally on your device only (SwiftData). No session data is sent to our servers.
When you delete the app, all stored data is permanently removed.
